Jay's Blog...

During the race season, I will be blogging about our news, race weekends, the highs and the lows, to give you all an insight into what we get up to and how we fair during our journey in MG Trophy with Jayem Racing.

New Year, New Season, New Car, New Championship, New Website!

What better way to celebrate the exciting new year ahead than with the launch of my own official website. Take a look around and let me know what you think.

I'll be updating this blog regularly but if you're not already doing so follow me on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with my prep and progress for the MG Trophy championship this year. Read full press release [03.01.13]

This Friday signifies the unofficial start of the 2013 season!

Well, for us it does anyway. The annual Autosport International show at the NEC is always superb and certainly gives us race fans a much needed fix of fast cars to fill the void between seasons. We will be there on Friday and looking forward to catching up with plenty of people so if you see me or any other members of the Jay Mooney Racing team, please say 'hi!'

We are also looking forward to the annual karting event and supporting our friends at Kartforce! ...is it nearly Friday yet?! [07.01.13]

No Sleep 'til......Donington

Tonight saw a landmark moment for our 2013 season with MG Trophy and the MG Car Club as our car was delivered to Alastair Rushforth Motorsport HQ. With the new roll cage delivered today as well, things are really gaining pace with the new look car.

This sneak peek of the MG ZR shows it sitting proudly next to its sister car for the season as we look to mount a two car challenge on the championship. Be sure to check back for updates and more images! [11.01.13]

We’re going to be on TV!
Exciting news, confirmed at the Autosport International show last week: TV cameras are going to be at every round of the MG Trophy championship in 2013. All the action will be captured so viewers can experience the thrill of each twist and turn on and off the track.

This is a great development for the MG Championship as it adds huge value to the drivers & teams plus it gives all of our sponsors and brands great exposure through TV coverage. It also means I will unfortunately be on strict car cleaning duties through the season too, I feel!

If you’d like to get your brand on TV by supporting the Jay Mooney Racing team, then please get in touch  as we have some great sponsorship packages available.

An update on the car!

I thought it was about time I updated you on the progress of the new, blue, MG ZR 160, being prepped for this years MG Trophy. We are not too far from being able to shake down the new build and hoping this can take place along with some testing, through March.

The engine should be in shortly and then we will be a seat-fitting away from being able to get some track time on the clock. I cannot wait to get back behind the wheel of the MG so look out for some new pictures when all will be revealed, along with new sponsors!

Check out the new look helmet for 2013

I couldn't wait to pick up the new look helmet this week as the pictures I had seen just looked amazing. Huge thanks to the massively talented Steve Hatt for his work and design on the new look. Steve does some amazing art work (not just helmets for racing drivers!) so check it out!

Another productive week with the MG ZR this week at HQ, has seen more progress made both on the car and with potential partners for the 2013 season in MG Trophy so keep checking back for updates in the gallery and here on the blog! [07.02.13]

Memento Exclusives join Jay Mooney Racing for 2013!

We received a massive boost this week with regards to our plans for the 2013 MG Trophy season with the news that the magnificent Memento Exclusives will be an official partner of Jay Mooney Racing for the season.

The eagle eyed among you will recognise the logo from the windscreen of the MG ZR last season during our debut season & of course from the visor of my helmet and we are delighted to have Memento Exclusives with us as part of the team for the upcoming season.

If you haven’t visited http://www.mementoexclusives.com yet then it’s definitely worth a look! They are one of my all-time favourite motorsport shops; with F1 merchandise and rare motorsport memorabilia; from team t-shirts to fully running Formula One cars for sale. [27.02.13]

Shakey Signs; Gives you Wings!

Huge thanks to Shane at Shakey Signs for delivering our new look rear spoilers for the Jay Mooney Racing MG ZR! Shakey Signs have been our official livery partners for a while now and the amazing job they have done on the new look MG has demonstrated why they are fast becoming the choice for anyone in the paddock as not only do Shakey Signs offer the best array of decals and sticker options, but have now been producing superb paint work for our cars!

Thanks guys!! [02.03.13]

Opening round is upon us!!

The new MG ZR is staring to really look the business now, with the roll cage welded in place thanks to Andy at Ant Training and championship decals added, we are not far away from unveiling the 2013 livery for you. This weekend will see the MG Car Club season opener at Donington and we are very excited, although sadly we have taken the decision to delay the start of our own season in the #45 MG ZR.

Jay explained the reasoning recently;

"With Donington being the scene of the accident last year and the new car needing a shakedown, we just felt it was a bridge too far, but we will be raring to go at Brands for round 2, following some testing in April."

We are very excited to be joining the rest of the Alastair Rushforth Motorsport team at Donington though as we welcome special guests, including Great Britain Olympic athlete, Ellie Stevens, to the team for the weekend. Be sure to check back for a review of the weekends events! [03.04.13]

Office Impressions join Jay Mooney Racing for 2013!

MG Trophy - Rounds 3 & 4 - Brands Hatch

May Bank Holiday saw my long awaited return to the circuit & in the new car following that ill fated day at Donington last year. We chose to shake the car down on Friday afternoon which helped me no end, psychologically if nothing else. Saturday morning's qualifying session saw us continue to learn more about the car, but speed eluded us, frustratingly.

Our aim was to learn as much about the car and build in my own confidence through the weekend which definitely happened in both races, which was really positive. Knocking 3 seconds off our qualifying times in both races and making up around 6 places in the process was progress indeed. I really felt that I got to no the car over the weekend and how the tyres/setup evolved through the races, which is invaluable. A huge thanks to JM Snr, Alastair Rushforth Motorsport and to my key sponsors Office Impressions, Memento Exclusives, Shakey Signs and Ant Training for making things possible. Check out the great images in my gallery (thanks to Christian Rose, JM Snr and TheChasinRacers for the great images)

We are looking to get some more time in the car in the lead up to MG Live at Silverstone on June 15th/16th now and hopefully continue our progress up the field! Thanks for your support!

Christian Rose Photography joins Jay Mooney Racing for 2013

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Christian Rose has joined us for the rest of the 2013 MG Trophy season to exclusively capture the images from our remaining race meetings. We were delighted to welcome Christian to join us at Silverstone for MG Live last weekend as he was able to snap some absolutely stunning shots at our first meeting at Brands Hatch the month before and has become a true friend of the team.

Christian, an avid motorsport fan, is a regular in most paddocks and his images speak for themselves! His work is absolutely brilliant and Christian clearly has talent in abundance with the camera in his hand so we cant wait to fill our gallery with his photo's throughout the year.

Welcome to the team Christian!

Where has the season gone?!

Its fair to say that the 2013/14 seasons have gone in a blur! 2013 saw us finish 14th in the end with plenty of progress from the season before however we were not expecting such major progress in the 2014 season.

Unfortunately we were only able to enter 3 of the 6 rounds due to car issues and other commitments but we achieved three top-ten finishes and a best place of 6th at Snetterton last weekend. There has been a real rise in confidence in the car and this has seen us really improve on lap times from the previous season and get involved in some real on-track tussles (check some of our videos on the 'Gallery' page!)

Huge thanks has to go to Oliver and the team at Preptech for their support and expertise this season. They have given us a car we have so much confidence in and we are really starting to see improvements in my driving and also the pace we can achieve, which is really down to them and their hard work, not to mention patience!

We are doing all we can over the winter to help continue on this path and progress and promise to keep you updated over the close season. Thanks again for all your support and for following!

Time for an update from JMR HQ

Well, I think its fair to say some time has passed since my last update and you may want to hear of some on-track exploits! Well, its been a busy time at JMR, what with the arrival of my first son last year and my wedding earlier this year, so I think its safe to say some truly awesome life events took priority and while we were still able to get out and compete in the brilliantly fun Birkett 6hr race last October (image on the left taken from the event), we are still looking at plans for the next venture which will see a return to a championship so we can continue to build on progress and push for honours.

The MG is ready and raring to go and safe to say Preptech UK have built one brilliant race car, so i'm itching to get back behind the wheel. As such, we are working hard already to expand our partnerships and the JMR family, to share the journey with us and become part of a great team in 2018.

I promise to keep you all up to date, well as long as Jack (JMR Jnr) allows of course...
